Simon Cowell is proof positive that being the best in the world at one thing is amazingly valuable. Fox offered him over $100 million to stay with American Idol, but Cowell is smart enough to know that he is American Idol. And that he will make more money with his own show, The X Factor.
Cowell isn’t the only example of this. Dennis Rodman was the best at one thing: rebounding. And as odd and annoying as he was everyone put up with it and paid him well because he was the best. Be the best. And enjoy what you do. At some point it’ll pay you back.
