When you drive a car the most important thing to be able to see is what is coming at you. The windshield is the single most important viewing lane for a driver. But the second most important is all of your mirrors. Often driving is a lot of reflecting on the past and what might be coming back towards you.
It occurred to me that in business we are almost always looking to the future but never reflecting on the past. I know, I know. Why would you reflect on the past? What can come of that? Well all those lessons learned, good and bad, are valuable. But if you never reflect upon them then how can you really move forward? And how can you avoid making the same mistakes again?
